You know, it was rough getting the boot last year from VW (which is still apparently in a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ). But I was fortunate to land a new gig after a month of unemployment, and this week, I got promoted. Apparently I'm doing something right. Maybe. Possibly.
In addition to taking on a new title and a lot more responsibility, I'll also have a little more green to put into the Phaeton maintenance fund. The best part? I'm doing better than I was before my layoff. The benefits, salary, training, and career growth opportunity are all much more competitive than they were at Volkswagen. Don't get me wrong, I do miss working in an office that had Audis in the lobby, but my career's in an infinitely better place now. Have to say, I'm pretty jazzed.

Congrats we defied the odds. Most people never do better after they get laid off.

Congrats!
It's funny how that works sometimes isn't it?
I got laid off from my first (real) Ad Agency then after 6 months (much longer wait) I started up in a better company with better pay and got promoted 3 times there before making another jump to an even better company.
It's an odd winding path but it can be great if you get lucky!

Yeah man, I am currently in hiatus myself. Left the auto industry due to stagnant growth of my bank account and my staff's, was considering a few long standing offers but ended up at a much better salary and title by being patient, well for a few days at least.
Congrats man! Make sure you let me know next time you head back to the motherland so we can grab some pizza!

Lateral transfers are one of the best things you can do for your career...even if you're forced into them.
Congrats.

You son of a bitch. I was having a perfectly easy morning out here in California and then you gotta go and drop a Pepe's reference in a comment. Now I've got a craving like no other and I won't be able to satisfy it until I get back east in June to visit my family.
fack!

For a man with a seersucker (right?) suit and a Phaeton, getting promoted is only a matter of time.
Congrats!

hey now, I can only get it when visiting home, though I did have a brief stint in New Haven. Gawd is that stuff good. This is what I usually bring back to Maine
my daughters love it too

Thanks! Yep, it is seersucker. I usually only wear it to the local polo grounds in early summer.

Ah, well I suppose I feel a bit better knowing that you're in the same boat as I am.
Where in Maine are you? Sister is at school up in Bahhhhh Hahhhbah, planning to visit this summer.
